Between neighbours

The same question, seen from Alsace, Baden and the Basel region. What each is trying, what each can learn from the other.

Three banks, shared questions

The universities of Strasbourg, Haute-Alsace, Freiburg and Basel and KIT have worked together within Eucor since 1989. The Interreg Upper Rhine programme funds joint projects, several of which concern AI. The KTUR² network links businesses and research on both sides of the Rhine.

ia3.alsace extends this proximity to practice: a task, its rules, its tools, seen from either side of the border.

What do we learn, and what do we preserve, when tools work between languages?

Teachers, speakers, students

Alsace

When an algorithm proposes, who has the final say?

Clinicians, administrations, taxpayers

Alsace

When the machine translates, who still makes the connection?

Municipalities, interpreters, carers

Alsace

Decide before integrating: what we entrust, what we keep, how we check.

VEIA.AI helps leaders ask three questions before integrating AI. Applied to the public frameworks of the three banks, they show different choices for the same requirement: keeping control of the decision.

BankWhat is entrusted to AIWhat is keptHow it is checked
StrasbourgUses governed by a charter, with tools evaluated before use. [Eurométropole de Strasbourg, council resolution]Staff training, an annual commission and a monitoring committee. [Strasbourg AI Charter]Evaluation of tools and oversight by the designated bodies. [Eurométropole de Strasbourg, council resolution] [Strasbourg AI Charter]

[Canton of Basel-Stadt, Data Competence Center]Specific rules for external tools, distinct from installed software.
